Summary/Abstract: This paper primarily deals with the Egerić’s interpretation of Đorđe Jovanović’s opus and determines that the book Reč u vremenu is not at the same level as some other Egerić’s achievements primarily with respect to the ideological vocabulary which has been used therein. It is also noticed that in general, such an approach towards the pre-war literature is typical for modern postwar Serbian critics (up to the 1990s) and the nature of anti-dogmatic critics’ attitude towards prewar writers and critics is problematized. It is also pointed out that this mostly concerns insufficiently clarified ideological relation which is both illogical and inconsistent; it is emphasized that, in the opinion of the author, such literary-historical attitudes imply not only anachronism, but also inadequacy.
