Summary/Abstract: Heinrich Wölfflin's Principles of Art History contains propositions that can form the basic building blocks in the study of works of art. In this study, criteria that allow art to be analyzed in terms of form, form and composition were determined. This research tries to explain the art of German painter Anselm Kiefer, who has been active in the art of painting since the second half of the 20th century, with the methods of explaining the works of art based on the comparison that Wölfflin put forward in his work called Principles of Art History. The main reason for choosing Kiefer as a sample is that it contains parameters that can correspond to Wölfflin's arguments, parallel to her adoption of painting as the basic expression style in the so-called postmodern period. While trying to find the equivalents of these formal analyzes in Kiefer's painting, the research aims to draw the scope of Wölfflin's concepts with a new perspective.
