Summary/Abstract: Image and "imagination" are the two Romanian terms that seem to be the basis of the concept. The very term "imagination" has as its root the word image, but the distance from the original meaning assigned it a synonymy, we can say, almost perfect, with that of fantasy, acquiring the meaning of creating new ideas that do not necessarily have a connection with reality, with what exists The term "imaginary" does not retain its broad meaning, but is directed more towards the meaning of "imagination", which reduces its complexity. It is believed that this meaning appeared in the period of modernity, during which the imagination, the image and the imaginary had a downward trajectory, being disregarded due to the opposition with the "real", opposition on the basis of which the imaginary was defined as "imaginary, which exists only in imagination, fictitious, unreal, substantivized domain of imagination”
