Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the first movement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Italian Concerto in F Major (BWV 971), one of the most frequently performed harpsichord works today. In the first part of this qualitative study, a brief biography of the composer and a list of his harpsichord works; in the second part, the understanding of form and structure in his harpsichord works were compiled from the written literature; and finally, structural, theoretical and musical analyses were made on the selected edition of the work. In this study, the information obtained from the literature was interpreted descriptively and the score of the work was analysed by document analysis. The aim of the study is to encourage researchers to evaluate and analyse J. S. Bach’s Italian Concerto and to benefit musicians if they wish to perform it.
