Summary/Abstract: Using multidimensional framework of discourse analysis we have examined the genre of laws, seen as the crucial aspect of interaction of (re)normalysing of social relations, functioning as legitimation of hegemony, more specifically as a representation of these relations as demanded by the addresser (the political elite) from the addressee (the people – subjects).Generic, intertextual, textual syntactic, cognitive semantic, interactive pragmatic, contextual cognitive, functional-systemic, as well as quantitative analytic insight into discourse of laws undertaken in this study, implies both comparative-diachronicl description and comparativediachronic explanation of discourse features of the analysed corpus of the Serbian and the English language. Such approach has provided, besides for multilateral consideration of the subject, the adequacy check of the forementioned theoretical-methodological concepts and their subsequent modification, as well as a larger potential of integrability of this research with others. The hypothesis of a high degree of universality of the concerned genre, constancy of the relationship between the addresser and the addressee, content and function of the message, with variations in terms of strategies used by particular discourses (continental legal vs. Anglo-saxon legal; bourgeois vs. socialist), has been confirmed.
