Summary/Abstract: Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a vital source of capital in developing countries because it usually complements domestic private investment, improves the value of human capital, creates new job opportunities and ensures the transfer of modern technology and knowledge, and is therefore aimed at improving overall economic growth. . The basic assumption about foreign investment, based on the principles of neoclassical economics, indicates the positive impact of FDI inflows on the level of GDP and thus on the establishment of social well-being in the host country. The research problem of this study refers to the analysis of the importance of foreign direct investment inflows for developing countries and their impact on economic growth through increasing the value of GDP. The subject of the research is about determining the interdependence of the observed variables, that is, the existence of a positive influence of FDI inflows on the GDP of the Republic of Serbia. The goal of the research is to determine recommendations for adequate management of future FDI inflows, and certainly to enrich the scientific literature in the subject area. By applying the methodology from the field of linear regression and correlation analysis, the veracity of the set hypotheses will be examined and relevant conclusions will be formed that will indicate the scientific and practical contribution of this research study.
