PROBLEMS OF CORRUPTION IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

Summary/Abstract: Public procurement is an important instrument for the placement of public money, as the mutual interests of the state and representatives of the business environment are satisfied. At the same time, international experience demonstrates the fact that the public procurement system remains a vulnerable area for corruption and fraud. In the Republic of Moldova one of the highest levels of corruption in Europe aggravates this problem. At the same time, certain successes in the fight against corruption in the Republic of Moldova are remarkable, the perception of which is mitigated by a series of existing problems in the implementation of related reforms. In addition, in recent years, important measures have been taken to prevent corruption, the effect of which propagates over time. Likewise, combating corruption in the field of public procurement has become a priority direction of the National Anticorruption Center’s activity. However, this competent public body signals specific problems in the given field, which requires the continuation of the activity of pre-training the activity of preventing and fighting corruption in the Republic of Moldova.
