Criminal Law Institutions of the European Union

Summary/Abstract: The Lisbon Treaty represents a milestone in the development of criminal law in Europe. The sum of the new supranational harmonisation powers of the European Union in the area of criminal law justifies this view. This paper provides an analytical of the relevant changes to the criminal law institutions of the European Union (Europol, Eurojust and the European Prosecutor´s Office)., and the reform of the protection of human rights within the EU, which includes the new jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice.
