Summary/Abstract: In order to show the role of canon law in the liturgical formation of the faithful, the author undertakes an interdisciplinary reflection (philosophy, theology, legal scienc- es) on the understanding of law. Analysing the existing definitions of canon and li- turgical law, she notes the positivist approach in this field. Then, on the basis of metaphysics and Thomism, she proposes a different view of law, canon law and liturgical law. She also notices the presence of Roman law in the church’s legal culture. The legal formation of the faithful, based on such foundations, will allow for a deeper under- standing and a better experience of the liturgy.
