Summary/Abstract: The article highlights the impact that the lovage (Levisticum officinale) has on humans, animals, and mythical representations. The plant, used in gastronomy as a spice, proves to be a universal panacea as it heals numerous conditions. Additionally, it is believed that lovage wards off certain mythical entities such as Ghosts [Strigoi], Dryads [Iele], and The Winged [Zburător]. The article covers various aspects: the descriptive register, scholarly thinking versus empirical thinking, ritualistic practices, association with incantations, and folk medicine. It explores a combination of fundamental functions: apotropaic, magical, ritualistic, therapeutic, utilitarian, etc. Synchronic analysis allows the decoding of this healing herb.
