Summary/Abstract: In the night of 15th to 16th of February, 1955, a group of five exiled Romanian men attacked the Legation of the Popular Republic of Romania in Berne. This unusual action represented a press event for the entire international media, which hurried up to send journalists to the capital of Switzerland. It was the first time when a diplomatic mission of a state out of the Iron Curtain was attacked. The aggressors were called “freedom fighters” by the Romanian Diaspora. In their own country, they were named terrorists. 56 years later, an eyewitness talks about the five men who scared the East, bringing into light new facts about the theme of so many articles and books.
