Summary/Abstract: The timely identification of signs indicating the impending invasion of Czechoslovakia by NATO armies, particularly those of the Warsaw Pact states, was a constant priority for Czechoslovak military intelligence - specifically, the Intelligence Department of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak People's Army (ZS GŠ ČSLA). This department, stationed at the time in the building of the Garrison Administration in Plzeň on 1. máje Street No. 19 (now Klatovské třídy), had the primary responsibility of operational and intelligence reconnaissance, acquisition, and management of secret collaborators focused on West Germany within the 248th Operational Regiment (the covert or secret section of ZS GŠ).
