Summary/Abstract: The Balkan Slavic type of future with the grammaticalized dynamic modal (‘want’) is one of the important Balkanisms in the Balkan Slavic dialects. Under the Albanian influence, in two Štokavian migrational dialects in Albania (in Shijak, Durrës region and in Myzeqe in Southern Albania) a number of quantitative and qualitative changes take place: The auxiliary drifts further along the grammaticalization cline to become a grammatical particle, the infinitive in the complement part of the future forms is reduced and replaced by the so-called da-forms with a further tendency to omit da. The sociolinguistic and structural factors favoring or hindering these processes are analyzed.
