Contemporary challenges of environmental marine economy

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to verify the hypothesis regarding the creation of a new area of maritimeeconomy – environmental maritime economy. The text indicates doctrinal, logical, but also normativepremises for identifying a new area of maritime economy, which will be implementedin accordance with the principle of sustainable development, and which will contribute to theimplementation of the latest economic concepts of the European Union. Focusing on the maritimeeconomy is important because it is an area where very significant changes are taking place,related to the introduction and dissemination of new types of human activity at sea. This activitycan be designed from the very beginning as an activity that takes into account the need toprotect the environment, the consequence of which will be the reduction of anthropogenicpressure on the marine environment, which is already critically endangered by human impacts.
