Summary/Abstract: With the increasing international trade as a result of globalization, the diversity in the product markets and service requirements increases the importance of the logistics sector. In parallel with the accelerating volume of international trade, developments in the logistics sector facilitate international trade and positively affect the competitiveness of countries with the cost advantages it provides. Developments in logistics activities also bring about an increase in the total turnover volume of the sector as well as in employment, and are an important determinant of economic growth in these aspects. The aim of this study is to empirically evaluate the relationship between road and rail passenger and freight transportation and economic growth in Turkey for the period between 2001 and 2019. In the analysis, where panel data analysis is preferred as the method, road and rail passenger and freight transportation services are used to represent the logistics sector and real GDP is used to represent economic growth. Accordingly, a reciprocal causality relationship between economic growth and road, maritime, air and rail transportation services in Turkey is determined.
