Summary/Abstract: The practice of revitalizing traditional rural and urban vocal folk music in neo-traditional form has its continuity in Serbia from the 1990s. It has been conducted by ethnomusicologists within institutionalized, non-institutionalized,as well as in mixed settings. It is about singing that aims to follow the models in performing style of original generations’ singers.Models that have been established at the beginning gave the impetus to the younger in amateur societies to dedicate to this kind of music. In the paper the attention will be paid to the role of mediators in the process of teaching traditional songs, based on the author’s practical experience in this domain.
