Basic Characteristics of informal education in the practice of cultural-artistic associations in Serbia

Summary/Abstract: Cultural-artistic associations in Serbia are legal entities within which traditional dances are practiced in choreographed form. These associations represent an important factor in the process of creating circumstances for the preservation of traditional dances as an element of intangible cultural heritage.Insufficient research into the process of informal education in cultural artistic associations directly contributes to this practice remaining on the margins of public interest. Given the considerations above, it is necessary to elucidate the basic methods of learning traditional dances in the given informal context, to identify and define ways to strengthen the capacity of this practice in the area of intangible cultural heritage preservation, as well as in the educational system in the future. This paper provides an analysis of the current practice of informal education of dancers in cultural-artistic associations,particularly emphasizing its paradigmatic textual and contextual characteristics.
