THE EUROPEAN UNION PROMOTES PEACE BUT MOVES TO WAR ECONOMY

Summary/Abstract: As a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine started bythe Russian Federation in February 2022, the member states of the EuropeanUnion have started to develop strong defense industries that bring them substantialfinancial benefits. To help Ukraine with weapons and ammunition, on March 20,2023, the European Union adopted a plan to use strategic reserves and helpmanufacturers (manufacturers) to open new production lines.All over the world the budgets for armaments have increased, the largestexpenditures in the field of defense are borne mainly by the USA, China, Russia,India and other states. The EU committed in March 2023 to supply Ukraine withone million artillery shells in violation of Article 41(2) of the EU Treaty.
