Summary/Abstract: The location of the ‘hidden’ medieval castles of Székely Land is strongly connected with other sites nearby (prehistoric fortresses, ramparts from the migration period, chapels, abandoned old roads). Therefore the main conclusion is that these mountain castles were built near ancient and ‘continuously’ used routes so they belonged to the 13th century defence system of the Hungarian Kingdom.
