Summary/Abstract: Within our contemporary society, domestic violence is a reality and, why not!, one of the most frequently encountered phenomena, which manifests itself in various forms [1]. Subsequently, it is highly justified that such a social manifestation is the preoccupation of sociologists, politicians, social assistants, different reasearchers, as well as (in particular) of the lawmaker. From a legislative point of view, domestic violence and, most notably, violence against women represents an aspect which is settled in several normative acts, which are of national as well as of international structure. Within the context in which, in conformity with recent statistics [2] from the past few years, in Romania, nearly 800 women have deceased from domestic violence, in the following lines we propound ourselves to expound the mode in which the issue of violence against women, viewed as one of the most frequent forms of family violence in the society of the XXIst century, is addressed and legally settled in an international context and in the internal legislation.
