Summary/Abstract: The theoretical presentation will be followed by examples extracted from the tabloids proposed for analysis. They will include sequences of lexical-grammatical modalizers, modal adverbs (and adverbial locutions) in Romanian and modal particles in German and their role from a morphological, syntactic and pragmatic perspective. The deontic, epistemic and volitional modality points out the degree of obligation or permissiveness of the above mentioned situations which entail a non-assertive character through linguistic sequences, achieving directive-type language acts (order, exhortation).
