Summary/Abstract: The further easterly expansion of NATO’s influence towards the Caucasus and even to Afghanistan, the pro-Western revolutions of the 2000s in the former Soviet Republics and the disputes over the East- West energy pipelines have somehow continued the Cold War style politics between Russia and the United States to this date. In 2008, the outbreak of a war between Russia and Georgia and the Russian invasion of the pro-Western and US-supported Georgia have mounted to the biggest crisis of the disguised Cold War between the United States and Russia. President Obama’s approach to the crisis and foreign policy towards Georgia have largely been assessed and shaped so far within his Administration’s foreign policy towards Eurasia and Russia. That is why, despite Obama’s early harsh criticism of Russian invasion, his Administration’s Georgia policy indicates major differences from that of Bush Administration. Obama Administration, which is aware of the limits of its strategic maneuver and political capabilities in Georgia and Eurasia, is expected to continue these cautious and rational policies in the coming years.
