Summary/Abstract: Paweł Stefanowski: Lemko poet, song writer, ethnographer, and cultural activist. He laid the foundations for the revival of the cultural and educational movement in the Lemko region after the deportation of the Lemkos from their homeland (so called „Vistula action”). He was a poet by vocation. Poetry began to write in the 50s and composed music for many of them. He wrote in Lemko, Ukrainian and Polish and published several poetry collections. From 1964, he ran a museum in Bielanka, where he exhibited his own collections, including the largest number of Lemko folk costumes in Poland. He also dealt with photography and already in the 1960s he took hundreds of photos, e.g. material culture of the Lemkos (churches, chapels, buildings), many of which no longer exist. He has made many documentaries, including a film from Nikifor's funeral in 1968.
