PECULIARITIES OF MONEY CIRCULATION AND FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS IN THE CARPATHIAN REGION OUN (1945–1954)

Summary/Abstract: Despite the significant interest of scientists in the history of the liberation movement, the relevance of the study of the financial support of members of the OUN and soldiers of the UPA is undeniable. For some reason, financial issues, especially in the separate administrative and territorial territories of the OUN and UPA, remain understudied. The purpose of the article covers the analysis and characterization of the monetary support of the nationalists of the Carpathian OUN region and the impact on this process of the distribution of financial documents – buffoons. The methodological basis is general scientific, special historical and numismatic research methods. Results and conclusions. It was emphasized that the financial sphere of the Ukrainian liberation movement was characterized by maximum conspiracy, which complicates the process of reconstruction of money circulation in general and in the territory of the Carpathian region of the OUN in particular. Attention is focused on the reports, reports, and records of the employees of the Soviet security forces, which make it possible to investigate the outlined problem more broadly. It was noted about the different ways that the members of the OUN and the soldiers of the UPA resorted to in order to provide an economic basis for the further struggle. The peculiarities of the manufacture and distribution of bofons, as well as their stylistic and artistic features, are outlined. The analysis and characteristics of the financial support of the nationalists of the Carpathian region of the OUN gives reason to talk about the difficult financial situation in the region, which was caused by focusing exclusively on its own material resources - the help and support of the local population. The repressive policy of the Soviet authorities had a negative impact on the voluntariness of this process, which forced the rebels and underground to take more radical measures that could provide an economic basis for further struggle against the occupation authorities. Therefore, the underground used all possible ways to replenish the treasury. In this context, the process of distribution of financial documents - bofons, which legitimized the process of money collections among civilians and mobilized the process of material support, played almost the biggest role.
