Summary/Abstract: Risk is a pivotal factor in insurance. This article focuses on the new ways of modelling the risk definition for the purposes of ontology. Appropriate selection of the definition for its modelling has significant impact on the form and efficiency of the entire ontology. With such a model available in the information system, many publicly accessible online databases can be used for insurance purposes. Particularly promising is the provision of data in RDF format as part of the Open Government initiative, along with the semantic description, as the infor- mation can supplement the risk model. In a wider perspective, the risk modelling enables designing a method for extraction of insurance product valuation models from internet sources. For that purpose, it has been proposed that insurance product representation should include primarily the following triad: the policy, the insurance and the insurance agreement.
