Financial crises – a chance for mutual insurance? Observations related to the global financial crisis

Summary/Abstract: Financial crises do not remain without effect on the insurance market. Mutual insurance which constitutes the natural component of the market, can also feel the effects of the financial market slump. However, the observations of the present crisis allow to formulate the conclusion that mutual insurance companies proved to be resistant to the crisis which can be even a chance for them to improve their market position in terms of premium and market share.
