Summary/Abstract: The Czech Heart in Austria was a charitable association uniting especially members of Czech and Slovak minority, established in January 1918. The founders were inspired by the establishment of the Czech Heart in Prague and included, among others, poet J. S. Machar, Antonín Machát, Vít Hrdina and František Strnad. In the first months of existence, the association was oriented on securing food for starving population and ensuring summer holiday stays for children in Czech and Moravian families in the country. In the interwar period, the Czech Heart continued its charitable work, especially in the field of the health education. One of ways of spreading the health education was the creation of a dense network of free consultation offices for mothers with children. Another way were clothes and food collections.
