Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research study is to introduce and analyse The Kyiv-Pechersk Chant, the monastic branch of the development of the Kyiv liturgical singing tradition. The author follows the historical path of the development of the Kyiv-Pechersk Chant through its five stages, along with its specific sources. He also reveals the influences at work since the ideal of the Ukrainian Baroque in the chant of the Kyiv-Pechersk brought to life a specific type of emotionally transformed melos, ignoring such features of the new style as variability, tension, and the use of contrast because they were alien to the nature of the monastic spirit.
