Summary/Abstract: The proposed article provides a detailed analysis of the toponymy of a mountainous region, especially the Bistricioara valley area, highlighting aspects related to natural resources, history and ethnography. The study addresses the origin and significance of toponyms in this region, presenting various examples and providing information about the geographical and historical characteristics of each place name. The text also discusses various classifications of toponyms, highlighting how they reflect geological, hydrographic, and human aspects. Emphasis is placed on the diversity of toponym structures, including simple and compound, highlighting their importance in identifying and understanding local history and culture. Linguistic and etymological influences on toponym formation are also explored, with mentions of elements of Latin, Slavic, Hungarian and Germanic origin.
