Summary/Abstract: The opening of the Museum of the Wałcz Land took place on May 28, 1984, but post-war efforts to establish the institution date back to 1967. Emerging issues, such as building renovations and the dispersal of artifacts resulting from archaeological research on the Wałcz land, delayed the preparation of a permanent exhibition. The original concept of the Wałcz Museum was thematically linked to the battles to breach the Pomeranian Wall. Unfortunately, this idea did not succeed, as the establishment of Chambers of Memorabilia and the creation of the Museum in Kołobrzeg in 1966 deprived the opportunity to create an institution of such a nature. The role of Jerzy Pulsakowski, who was back then the Head of the Department of Culture in the County National Council (PRN) in Wałcz, who consistently promoted the idea of establishing the museum within his competence, was significant. Ultimately, the first director of the Museum of the Wałcz Land, Dobrochna Szymańska, led to the opening of the institution and filled the provocative “empty showcase.”
