Summary/Abstract: The provision of Art. 529 of the Civil Procedure Code empowers police authorities, without discretion, to detain a debtor who obstructs the execution of a certain action provided for in chapter forty-eight of the code. In its legal essence, this detention constitutes a type of administrative coercion, represented by a restriction of the debtor’s right to move freely for a period not exceeding 24 hours.
