Summary/Abstract: The paper traces changes in understanding justice in health from identifying it with the just distribution of healthcare to the concept of health equity. The impact of the conception of socialdeterminants of health and social gradient in health on thinking about health justice wasdiscussed. The theoretical grounding of those ideas in the capability approach, whichassigns intrinsic value to health and perceives health as an essential element of full humanflourishing, was shown.
