Summary/Abstract: The article describes the history of archival studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. It traces the origins of the archival specialization, which was initiated by Professor Józef Paczkowski in the interwar period, and developed by Professor Franciszek Paprocki and his successors since 1972. The article describes the evolution of the curriculum, the scientific achievements, and the cooperation with other archival institutions. It also discusses the challenges and opportunities of the Bologna process and the model of professional competencies for archivists and document managers. The article highlights the traditions and innovations of the Poznań archival school, which has trained hundreds of archivists for over four decades.
