Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the educational use of the musical as part of language and cultural education. The author points out the unique qualities of this genre which is now available at streaming platforms. It can become an attractive proposition both in the process of acquiring a foreign language and acquiring it intercultural competences in accordance with the principle of edutainment, i.e. learning combined with fun. The author’s thesis is illustrated by examples taken from three extremely popular musicals: Hamilton, Rudolph: The Mayerling Affair and The Greatest Showman.
