Summary/Abstract: Discrimination on the grounds of disability is a differentiated treatment applied by individuals and groups of individuals, which is not based on individual worth, but on systemic, structural or attitude assumptions and stereotypes about a physical or mental disability. In the coming years, disability will be an even bigger concern, as its prevalence is increasing. This is due to an aging population and therefore a higher risk of disability in the elderly, as well as a global increase in chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and mental health disorders.
