Fruit Production in the Czech Republic and Data Comparison with Selected Countries of the European Union

Summary/Abstract: The author characterizes fruit growing in the Czech Republic in her contribution. The introductory part describes the development of this economic activity from the past times. It also compares selected indicators in the Czech Republic with indicators in some EU countries. It compares the production of the most important kinds of fruit according to every single region of the Czech Republic. It emphasizes that the climate conditions have a very significant impact. The author points out the need to preserve ancient plant varieties, which are the national wealth and genetic resource whose value is priceless.
