Summary/Abstract: Power division stands for the irreplaceable principle of the Slovak constitutionalism. The author examines how the mentioned principle is applicable under the conditions of regional self-government between the chairman and the representative body of a self-government region scrutinizing from the point of view of the delimitation of their activities and their inter-related relationship including the system of checks and balances as well as the termination of their mandates. The presented contribution pays its attention to the weak or problem- causing areas of the contemporary legal adjustment which is tackled on with the needs of practice, besides that, it offers possible solutions having the form of suggestions de lega ferenda, and further on, presenting causatively reasoning, giving the arguments which are based on the recently acquired legal theory constructive knowledge, but first and foremost outcomes found on the territorial self-government theory.
