Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the changes in selected economic indicators of tourism in the years 2000 to 2013 and describe the position of all NUTS III regions in the Czech Republic during the economic cycle. As a basis for the research the available regional data from the database of the Czech Statistical Office are about to be used as a share of the tourism sector to GDP in the regions, the number of collective accommodation facilities in the regions, the number of guests in the regions, the number of overnight stays, the occupancy of beds and rooms. Based on the analysis above the indicators of the current situation in the regions in terms of trends and impacts on GDP are about to be used in the point of view of the region formation and development of the tourism industry as an important sector, which may accelerate the development of the region. The researched indicators are then about to be used within the scoring method for the MEPRB model in which the final ranking of regions by developing tourism potential is about to be stated.
