Summary/Abstract: State aid is an economic instrument influencing the development of economic relations positively, but also negatively in changing global economic environment. The positive aspects of state aid affect the regional development mainly, enterprise promotion and social politics. The negatives of state aid have an economic dimension because of the negative impact on common budget. In certain cases there is even a danger of economic competition rules infringement. This scholarly article analyses facts, phenomena and processes associated with state aid in a broader view, and points out pros and cons of state aid.
