Summary/Abstract: Concrete examples from the life of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and his companions, blessings and peace be upon them, represent the best basis on which it should be builded our attitudes in the time of our lives. There is no reason to question the possibility of applying the models they implemented in their communication performances. One such example is the dialogue of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib with the Abyssinian Christian government of Najashi. This example represents a clear model of dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims and best illustrates the goals and characteristics of such dialogue. Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, as a skilled rhetorician, a good communicator, came towards Najashi with a clear goal. This ultimately resulted in his conversion to Islam. This paper sheds light on the historical context in which the dialogue took place as well as its peculiarities, through the hadith of Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her.
