Summary/Abstract: The article treats H. J. Chmielewski’s comics as an implementation of grotesque fantasy. The author of the article is primarily interested in the linguistic grotesque. Motives related to dystopia play a minor but essential role in the analyzed comic books. Thanks to this, Chmielewski’s comics published after 1990 become a reflection of their times. The relationship between comics and science fiction lies in the fact that the reality of comics is abundantly filled with themes drawn from modern and ancient utopias and SF works and with allusions to this reading.
