Summary/Abstract: “Anna Karenina”, “Onegin” and “Brothers Karamazov” are among the recent ballet decisions of Boris Eifman. They are interesting not only as a dance reading of the literary source, but also because of the approach in which Eifman brings the action to modernity, which inevitably changes and narratives. For example, in “Anna Karenina” (2005), the main choice between the family stereotype and the pursuit of creativity becomes the main one; “Onegin” (2009) looks at the time of the August putsch in Russia and its consequences, specifically marked the year 1991; “Brothers Karamazov” (2013) focuses on personality choices and the non-consisting social and spiritual “revolution”. Eifman’s dance decisions impress not only through a change in initial reading, but also with their theatricality, complicated structure, smooth overflow from present to past.
