Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at a synthetic approach to the poetic work of Władysław Sebyła, starting from his volume "Modlitwa", through "Pieśni szczurołapa", "Koncert egotyczny" and ending with "Obrazy myśli". The key reading contexts are the ideas of progress and catastrophe. In Władysław Sebyła’s poems these two notions enter into a dialectical relationship and function as the obverse and reverse side of the order of history.
