Summary/Abstract: This paper is devoted to the analysis of foreign trade development in selected Central European countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary). The analysis is concentrated on the identification of general development trends in the period 1994–2010. The main idea is to analyze selected factors which are connected with the basic characteristics of foreign trade value development. The linear regression is applied to analyze the sensitivity of individual countries’ merchandise trade on selected macroeconomic indicators’ changes. The following findings result from the analysis. The value of foreign trade of the V4 countries has been growing steadily (their foreign trade value development was only affected by the world economy and financial crisis in 2009). In the period before the crisis (1994-2008) the value of trade had been increasing in all analyzed segments – i.e. the agrarian products, fuels and raw materials and the manufacturing products. The analysis of the effects of selected variables on the value of V4 countries’foreign trade is confirmed by the high interdependence between the foreign trade turnover value on one hand and GDP value and EU27 GDP value on the other hand.
