Summary/Abstract: The ideologies of urban reconstruction are primarily based on changing the old structure to create a more humane environment. However, changes to the urban landscape often do not have the support of the general population. Especially in these spaces, since experience has taught us that the shaping of cities according to the needs of its inhabitants is increasingly giving way to the interests of “big money”. If we were to take the current reconstruction of Savamala as a case study, we could say that resistance follows its development from the very beginning, i.e., the draining of Bara Venecija, the building of the first railway, as well as its abolition and the construction of the Belgrade Waterfront. This paper examines the loses and gains of the restructuring of Savamala, especially with the relocation of the railway station to Prokop and with reconstruction of the old station building into a museum dedicated to the history of Serbia.
