Summary/Abstract: Pollution of the environment is a problem ofthe modern age. The technology developed and used overthe past decades has left serious consequences on humanenvironment and implied the need for resolving them.Preserving quality of water, air and soil are quitecommon issues in many countries. This paper presentsone way of dealing with these challenges, based on sensornetworks and the Sensor Web concept. The solution isgiven as GinisSense system. GinisSense is designedaccordingly to Open Geospatial Consortiumspecifications and recommendations for the field ofSensor Web. This paper explains GinisSensearchitecture and presents its opportunities forenvironmental monitoring, preservation and protection.
