Summary/Abstract: In this article, we claim that the exoneration from legal responsibility of the members of the Securitate apparatus directly and indirectly involved in the assassination of of the dissident Gheorghe Ursu strikes at the moral foundations of society, represents a danger to the rule of law and stands in flagrant contradiction with the historical truth. It creates the conditions for impunity for those who were involved in the political crimes of the communist regime and weakens the democratic culture in Romania, opening wide the way to the rehabilitation of the totalitarian regime.
