Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problem of presenting Norwegian reflexive verbs in bilingual dictionaries. The study is based on the material from Stor norsk-russisk ordbok (The Big Norwegian-Russian Dictionary, Berkov et al. 2003) and the Norwegian-Lithuanian Dictionary which is currently being compiled on the basis of Stor norsk-russisk ordbok. The recommendations provided in this paper are also relevant for the compilers of other bilingual dictionaries with the source languages in which reflexive verbs are formed with a reflexive pronoun. The analysis shows that lexicographers encounter difficulties when presenting reflexive verbs in dictionaries, and that the diversity of the patterns of presenting reflexive verbs can also confuse the user. The patterns of presenting reflexive verbs depend on the size, type as well as the academic level of the dictionary. The main criterion for the choice of the pattern of presenting a reflexive verb should be the semantic relation between the reflexive and nonreflexive form of the verb. Considering this relation, the Norwegian reflexive verbs should be presented as separate lemmas, as illustrations or as separate parts of the entries.
