Free Software in Business and Administration

Summary/Abstract: The use of free or open-source software in the environment of information and communication technologies (ICT) of the modern commercial and administration sector has significantly increased in the last few years. If we abstract from the reduction of the purchase and operational costs, the scalability and usability play the key role, too. This has been proven e. g. by the increasing use of the office suite OpenOffice.org or the switch of the New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange to Linux-based operating systems. In the Czech Republic, e. g. the Czech Post has made such a change.
