Mechanism of Concept Stereotyping

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problem of cognitive basis for stereotyping. The main attention is paid to the process of concept stereotyping. It is stated that the mechanism of forming a stereotyped concept is connected with rearrangements in the concept structure engendered by psychological features of perception and cognitive processing. The work of this mechanism is shown on the example of the concept „Students’ life“. The paper describes the methods of experimental research in the sphere of concept analysis, presents the research results, ascertains the stereotype degree of this concept and reveals its stereotyping resources.
